Andrea Pope Bauman, C.P.A.
Andrea has an extensive and unique background that gives her the distinct ability to analyze and diagnose tax issues, create an action plan, and execute. Andrea began her career on the forefront of the tax insolvency battleground working as a Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) from 1991 to 1997.
Andrea excelled as a Revenue Officer and her work with the IRS helped Andrea form a strong, fundamental understanding of the inner mechanics of the IRS and, more importantly, the Internal Revenue Code (the “Tax Code”).
While a Revenue Officer Andrea became the Offer in Compromise specialist for her IRS field office. In doing so, Andrea discovered that there is a significant disconnect between the IRS and its understanding of insolvency and the United States Bankruptcy Code (the “Bankruptcy Code”). This discovery elicited intrigue and interest, so Andrea focused on figuring out how to bridge the gap. Her research lead to certain enlightenment, along with an appointment as a panel Bankruptcy Trustee in 1997, and even further education resulting in her designation as a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) in 1998.
From 1997 to 2017, Andrea handled over 22,000 business and individual bankruptcy cases. During that time Andrea experienced an expansive range of insolvency issues, that in many instances, involved underlying problems with the IRS. What Andrea discovered is that bankruptcy can often be avoided with an Offer in Compromise with the IRS or an affordable Installment Agreement. However, there are times when a Bankruptcy may be the best solution, which is why Andrea has teamed up with Bankruptcy Attorney, Jake Blanchard.
The Tax Code is Title 26 of the U.S. Code and is enforced by the IRS. This intersection of the Tax Code and the IRS has made the IRS one of the most sophisticated and relentless collection agencies on the planet. The IRS has seemingly infinite resources and the Tax Code gives the IRS the power to levy bank accounts, garnish wages, place liens on Homestead residences, and in certain circumstances, seize assets wherever located and in whatever form. This is why three simple letters strike fear in the hearts of many American businesses and individuals… I. R. S.
